ABOUT THE PUMPKINVINE
This is a fabulous venue, a wonderful path…and if you are not familiar with the Pumpkinvine Nature Trail- you will be humbled by the vision and perseverance that a few people had to make this path happen. Check out the story here. The Pumpkinvine is one of the top ten great things about this area!
AWARDS
All paid participants will get a finisher medal. Top three overall MF in all three races plus AG awards in 15 standard age groups. The Monster Mile is a walk and is not timed and not meant to be rushed so there are no age group awards for that. (but you do get a finisher medal)
This year, we will do an awards ceremony for the top three in each race shortly after the majority have finished. Then we will move to self-serve for the rest of the age groups. We hope that doing it this way will speed things up and allow those that want to leave right away collect their hardware quickly.
Costume awards in many categories including best homemade, children’s, super hero, most creative etc. We have had some amazing costumes!!! It’s super fun! To be included in the contest, just stop by the Judges station and sign in with your number and distance! That way, nobody will be missed. We will inform the winners as soon as you return back from your race.
COURSES
All 2026 courses will be out and back on the beautiful Pumpkinvine Trail, starting at finishing at Abshire Park. You’ll get to see your friends on the path. There are a few road crossings, but we will have police there to stop traffic. One of the great benefits of out and back courses is you get to see your friends on the course. You are never alone on the courses!
PARKING
There is NO runner parking at Abshire Park, however there are multiple churches, businesses and another small park within a few blocks of our venue. Parking volunteers will direct you in the morning where to park. Please follow their guidance in the morning.
It is also pitch black this time of year in the morning, so a small flashlight is recommended, especially if you are coming early on Saturday for packet pickup.
Dog Policy
Dogs. We love, love, love dogs! Here is our dog policy for those wanting to participate in the race:
They are welcome to join in the race if:
* They are trained for the distance and will enjoy it!
* Up to date on all shots
* Have experience in crowds and will not be fearful or aggressive towards others
* Your lead line will not impede other runners
* This is not a puppy training event to see how they do
However, just like family- please note that having your dog with you MIGHT impact your performance.ย Just like having a child with you who is having an off day, your dog might be having an off day and slow you down.ย Or you might need to avoid other dogs, if your dog is larger/smaller.
Dog happiness comes first!
Please do not put us in a position where we cannot allow your furry friends. Dogs need to be “registered” at packet pick up [FREE] and get a bandana. With a chip start, you can choose when you cross the starting line to allow space, if necessary.
Everyone planning to run with their dog will need to โregister themโ at packet pickup (no charge) and get a bandana!

All proceeds benefit Community 321 in Goshen.
For sixteen years, this race has supported the Elkhart County Down Syndrome Group, a local group of about 70 families who have kids with special needs. These kids have grown up into adults, so the need was there for a group home where they could be together during the day, have a business and eventually live there. All proceeds from this race go to Community 321.
COURSE
The race starts and finishes at Abshire Park in Goshen. You will be running on the Pumpkinvine trail, which is a popular rails to trail path that goes for miles and miles.
We started this race out by Loveway, but quickly outgrew the facility. Then We moved to Bonneyville Park, but some of the blind curves on the roads out there started to scare us. Thank you for your continued support over the past sixteen years!
VOLUNTEERS
Yes, we need help! We always need help! You can help AND run- we will work with your schedule! Runners make excellent volunteers, because they understand the process and how it feels to be on the other side.! Maybe you are injured or saving up for another race- we would love to have you!
