AIRPORT NIGHT TO LIGHT 5K

A new race experience! Watch the sun come up as you race down the tarmac!

This is our first year! This is a fundraiser for Stay Indiana, which is an afterschool program for high school students to learn about aviation. They gain critical skills and knowledge to advance into a career as a pilot, mechanic or airport worker!

REGISTRATION AND PACKET PICKUP

Packet pickup options:

Wednesday, October 14 from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at Fleet Feet Mishawaka

Friday, October 16 from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at Abshire Park Cabin in Goshen

Saturday, October 17 from 6:45 am – 8:15 am at the Airport in Goshen

You can pick up for your friends, if that helps!

RACE FEES

Your fee includes a custom t-shirt *, timed entry for the 5K (Mile walk is not timed) experience and finisher medal, and refreshments in the hangar after the race.

• The shirt order goes in on October 1st, so while we will order a few extras, please get your request in on time!

ABOUT THE RACE

An airport race? We are soooooo excited about this one! Not only are we in an airport on a runway, we get to do this early enough where the runway lights will be on and and we will get to feel what it is like at night. This is a fundraiser for Stay Indiana, which is an afterschool program for high school students to learn about aviation. They gain critical skills and knowledge to advance into a career as a pilot, mechanic or airport worker!

COURSE

We will be on a smooth, paved road the entire time. The runway is approximately two large lanes wide , one mile long, with 300 feet connecting it to the other direction. The blue lights will be on when we start , so it will be well lit. Sunrise is about 7:30 am in the morning at that time of year!

Strollers would be fine for this race. Of course, completely protected from auto traffic.

AWARDS

All participants will get a custom finisher medal.

PARKING

When you arrive, you will be directed to park near the start. Enter at Gate 7.

Reminder, we are out of the city, so it is pitch black this time of year in the morning, so a small flashlight is recommended, especially if you are coming early on Saturday for packet pickup.

DOGS

Dogs. We loved dogs! However, dogs are not allowed at the airport.

VOLUNTEERS

Yes, we need help! We always need help! You can help AND run- we will work with your schedule. Runners make excellent volunteers! Maybe you are injured or saving up for another race- we would love to have you!
